Kimberly's Kounseling Korner

Dear Kim,

I have been pondering in not competing anymore, it seems the industry does not reward my look. I have a lot muscle but I have downsized so much and done many shows at national level. Its my passion but it seems futile continue. What should I do?

Dear Clara,
Thanks so much for your question. I would have to say I think you should be competing for you and not for the judges. It seems every year the judges are looking for something different....I can't imagine how confusing it must be for a competitor. I've never competed but had planned on it a couple of years ago. I decided not to because I didn't need or want the sport to decide what a perfect physique was for me. I feel you should be in control of your body and shouldn't tweak it for anyone but yourself.
I obviously can't tell you what decision to make but I hope I've given you a different perspective. Good luck Clara!
