Making the most of it…
After 3 years of competing I have discovered that its not the trophy you take home that you value the most. The relationships you make with fellow competitiors are based on goals and activities you just can’t share with the average woman. It can be hard to network backstage but do your best to take advantage of it.
Find the stage show photographer while you are on stage (you will always have pictures of this event so make them awesome) and remember those that came to support you. This last show was the first time I didn’t rush on stage and its because I didn’t do this show for the judges or even myself, I did it for the people yelling for me in the crowd. I looked for them, smiled when I saw them, and gave them a show. Have fun up there and forget about those judges.
Schedule a post show photoshoot no matter how tired you are and enjoy the expo or vendors attending. This is where networking and advancement happens.

Tips and Tricks

Diet trick: Eat smart. Think about what you are putting into your body and what it will do for you. Is that extra scoop of pb worth giving up your pro card for? What about those breadsticks?
Workout tip: My next idea is to join Punch for 1 month 2 weeks prior to a show. I get a runners high the week after my show but I crash the 2nd week…I took a boxing class and it was awesome. If you make a monetary and social obligation, you are less likely to fall off the wagon.
