Alissa Carpio NPC Fitness
How did you get interested in
While in the Army, a fellow soldier showed me the basics of bodybuilding, and I stuck to it ever since.
How was your first show like, any interesting experiences?
I was very nervous at first, but after the first set of quarter turns, I really enjoyed it and was instantly hooked. I made sure I did everything in my power to prepare for that show!
What do you like and dislike about competing?
I love the competitive aspect and the outlet to show all the hard work with dieting and training. I also love to perform, which is why I chose the Fitness division. What I dislike about competing is the politics and also the stereotypes associated with bodybuilders.
What are your future goals in this industry?
My goal for the last 3 years has been to get my pro card in Fitness by 2006, so I have one more year to make that happen! In addition to that, I want to be a positive Christian role model to men, women and children so that they feel inspired and able to reach their own goals.
What do you see yourself doing in 10 years?
In 10 years, I would love to be living in the country with my husband and a few kids, have had competed in several pro shows, own my own gym & personal training facility, and have produced several fitness DVDs.
Please tell us something special about you that most people
I'm very deeply rooted to my traditional and conservative beliefs. Contradictory to that, I am eager to take my fitness career as far as I can and impact as many people along the way as possible. But when that's all said and done, I just want to settle down with my husband as a stay'at'home Mom and raise my family in the country! Over the past 5 years, I've really come to realize that family and relationships are the most important thing in this world.
Any additional notes? People you would like to thank?
Without Jesus, I wouldn't be where I am in my life today. Although it sounds clich', it's the truth! I strive to live my life for Him in all that I do. I'd like to thank everyone who has impacted or influenced me positively throughout my entire life ' My Mom and Dad, my husband Dave, my friends in the Army, at the Pentagon, at Gold's Gym and Sport ' Health, and the many wonderful people I've met through the bodybuilding'fitness industry, particularly Mark Dugdale and his wife Christina.
