Laura Lewis NPC Figure

How did you get interested in fitness/working out?

I've been an athlete my whole life - soccer, volleyball, basketball, downhill skiing, track, hiking, biking... I'm competitive and getting on stage in an NPC show seemed like the next step for me. My trainer (yes, Bryce, who is now my husband, suggested I try it. I'm hooked!)

How was your first show like, any interesting experiences?

I was as prepared as I could have been. Bryce had been competing for 10 years and had several shows under his belt so he showed me the ropes. I had fun, but did not place.

What are your future goals in this industry?

I am going for PRO status in Figure and I'd like to continue modeling. What do you see yourself doing in 10 years? Honestly, my only sure things are to stay fit and healthy, have a happy marriage and everything else should fall into place.

Please tell us something special about you that most people wouldn't know?

I'm an artsy / crafty type. I like little creative projects, like putting the crystals on my competition suits, I make scrap books and collages, I enjoy taking pictures.

Any additional notes?

If anyone is reading this that is considering competition - DO IT! Yes, It is totally worth it. It is hard, but if it was easy, why do it? This is a very demanding sport that requires dedication and focus, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. That is what I believe it takes to make a true champion. Getting ready for a show is a long process. It's a huge personal challenge. Accept the challenge so that you can realize a goal achieved on the day of the show. Remember to enjoy the whole process. Stepping on stage is the icing on the cake. It's the sign that you won, you made it thru and achieved one of your biggest personal goals. It's very satisfying!

People you would like to thank?

My biggest thanks is to Bryce. He's molded me into the person that I am today, physically and mentally. Thanks to our families and friends for supporting us in our sport! And a BIG thank you to our sponsors:MET-Rx and Worldwide Sport Nutrition.
