Misty Green NPC Figure
How did you get interested in
bodybuilding/working out?
My track coach in college had me doing serious weight workouts that
were mainly focused around explosion techniques and circuit training.
I fell in love with the weight room from there. It just felt so good
with the sweat, strain and energy that went into the gym. A couple years
after college, a girlfriend of mine started talking about this new division
of figure. I lived in Orlando at the time and we went to see our first
show in Tampa together. It was awesome and she started competing that
next year, I on the other hand enjoyed being a spectator at the time
and mainly focused on running and circuit training. About two years
later, my sister and I were helping my brother recover from a coma and
needless to say things were somewhat stressful and I needed an outlet
for myself. I got into serious training and went to a friend of mine
to help me with a diet. I couldn't think of a better way to spend my
spare time while helping my brother recover. After that, I was hooked
on competing! My brother is doing great and is super supportive as well
as the rest of my family.
What was your first show like, any interesting experiences?
My first show, like anyone else's was a major learning experience. I
had fun not only with the show but also getting to know the other gals
backstage. Oh, and also I learned not to glue my suit before taking
one last potty break.
What do you like and dislike about competing?
I absolutely love the training and the constant challenge with myself.
I just really enjoying getting myself to my breaking point and then
going just another step past that point. The only thing that I could
say that I dislike is not being able to eat ice cream during competition
time, but that's all part of the challenge now isn't it! I know most
find it frustrating not really knowing what the judges are looking for.
But, I think you can overcome that by remembering that you are really
competing against yourself. I know it sounds cheesy, but if a person
can continue to come in looking their absolute best then you just have
to know that you did everything you could. And just continue to learn
what is best for you and your body.
What are your future goals in this industry?
Honestly, I would be lying if I didn't say that I want to go to the
top. I really enjoy competing and would love to get involved in every
aspect that this industry has to offer.
What do you see yourself doing
in 10 years?
Doing whatever makes me smile!
Please tell us something special about you that most people
wouldn't know?
Well, most people don't know that I am
mutt:) My mom is from Thailand and was one of the first in her family
to come to the US and my daddy is a good ole boy from the backwoods
of Alabama but is also ½ Cherokee Indian. So I guess that make me a
Cherokee, Thai, Bama girl. Can you imagine what our family reunions
where like! Talk about two completely different cultures.
Any additional notes? People you
would like to thank?
I would love to thank my family, friends, fellow gym rats and main man
Nicky (who is not only an amazing trainer but also a rock for me) for
all of the continued love and support.
