"All About Mindi Part 1" DVD Review by Juan Carlos Lopez For starters those who don't know who Mindi O'Brien is she is one of the top fitness competitors in the world, not only physique-wise but also routine-wise. Mindi is the only Canadian competitor who has won an IFBB Pro Fitness show, the 2004 SW Pro Cup in Dallas. This DVD in particular was shot before the 2006 Arnold Classic, which shows Mindi in very good shape. The basic format for the DVD has Mindi working out in the gym, talking in the kitchen while eating and at the very begging of the DVD doing some routine work at a show. The first 30 minutes we see Mindi doing several exercises for the arms, triceps, biceps and shoulders. Each training segment she is accompanied by a male who asks Mindi questions regarding a particular exercise. The questions in general help the segment explain as to what part of the body does it target. We also learn some of Mindi's training techniques and what types of exercises she performs before a show, rep range, number of sets, angles for exercise, etc... Some viewers might not enjoy having another person asking questions during the video or having the camera guy interact with Mindi. This is something that could be changed for the next series but it doesn't detract too much from the viewing experience given that Mindi is such an exceptional competitor, and the viewer will focus mostly in the content. The other part we see often is Mindi in the kitchen being interviewed, from some insight about her life to how many meals per day she eats. What types of food for pre-contest and also her experience training other people. One impressive thing is how focused she is and how she never breaks her diet. The last 30 minutes show Mindi on a role as a trainer which her real life job. One of her clients Tambra Tufford is shown doing chest and biceps exercises. Here Mindi points out important details regarding the exercises, explaining how to make the exercise much more effective. The DVD is shot with one camera only which is very common for DVDs nowadays. The menus are plenty which provide easy access to various places on the DVD. This is a great DVD to learn more about Mindi O'Brien and about her real life. The next series will focus on the competition itself at the 2006 Arnold. Below are clips of the actual DVD, for more info on how to but it email Mindi at: teamobrien@cogeco.ca
