The 2006 Atlantic City Pro took place September 22 thru 23 at the Atlantic city convention center connecting to the Sheraton hotel (event hotel). The venue is a place with allot of history (going back to WWII) and it was spacious enough to fit in 2 or 3 times the people who were in the audience. The host hotel was near a shopping area and most of the major casinos. No groceries stores were within walking distance of the hotel and only a few dining places with a few blocks.
The show had an amateur and a pro component, with the amateur winners qualifying for the nationals? , and the top 3 pro winners qualify for the Olympia.
This show was a truly international event with competitors from countries like Germany, Australia, Argentina and Mexico, nearly every continent was represented and the talent pool was really amazing.
The fitness class was taken by Julie Palmer. Laticia Wilder, Figure Olympia competitor, was there on hand to support Julie and help her during the show.
Angie Semsch took 2nd place and Stacy Simons took third.
Its always amazing watching the fitness routines and this show sure did not disappoint. Whether awesome flexibility of Stacy Simmons, the power moves (hand stand presses) of Angie Semsch, or the “matrix” move of Karen Walcott, every routine was packed with energy and excitement. Its was interesting to see almost all of the girls incorporating break dancing moves in to their routines and doing them with such skill that would put to shame the masters of the break dance (in this writers humble opinion)!
The women’s bodybuilding side of the show was very deep with competitors like Emery Miller, Tonia Moore-Villalobos and Irene Anderson making there pro debut. When the ladies lined up on stage it became apparent that Lisa Aukland was on a different level as far as shape, size and conditioning from anybody else on that day. A week before the show, when Lisa was judging a local show in Maryland, everyone was in awe of her conditioning and were saying she was in rare Olympia form, ready to do some serious damage. Lisa went a step further from there and took the whole show to make it a first win in her pro carrier. Helen Bouchard took second with Tazzie Colomb taking third.
