2005 IFBB
San Francisco Figure Pro Review
San
Francisco, I have been there many many times for different things but
it was nice to have a show in such a great place. This was the first
time they had Figure Pro in the SF Pro Grand Prix. Last year only Pro
men competed and 3 amateur figure girls. It was a total joke for the
women's competition since two of them were spotted on the audience earlier
in the day were invited to compete. I heard they gave them a diuretic
such as Lasix, put some coats of Pro tan on and then walked on stage.
The only girl who had originally planned the show won the show easily,
Enji Khoo is her name. She would later compete at the Contra Costa in
2004. And the promoter was Giorgio who I hadn't seen do any shows really.
The response for the men having the VIP package and meeting them was
great, the VIP package almost sold out. This year the show was promoted
by more familiar faces and changed to a different venue, the Palace
of the Fine Arts. An absolutely stunning place to do photoshoots, which
I took advantage of.
Once
more Jenny Lynn and Monica Brant would be head to head. It's amazing
how these women do to shows back to back and still look great. By now
people have seen Monica and Jenny's physiques are different so it's
a matter of choice for the judges and for the fans. Some like Jenny's
curves and others like Monica's muscles. Both were less conditioned
than at the Olympia and probably again for the 20% rule. Would be interesting
to ask them. Christine Pomponio-Pate with her small structure and great
symmetry placed high. The other competitor who made great improvement
from the NYC Pro was Rhonda Riley, she looked stunning display that
V-taper and delts few competitors can brag about. Looking at photos
she looked fuller than Chastity Sloan who seemed to have come in very
lean and a bit flat. Gina Camacho and Rhonda Riley the local girls took
over for the most part. Gina's debut was excellent, this girl can bring
it to a show, her arms were looking very full. Trish Mayberry with great
symmetry snuck in 7th place although her conditioning wasn't the best.
She is still a very gorgeous looking woman and promises a lot for the
coming year. Again Lynsey Beattie-Ahearne came in showing a great physique,
at least top 10 was overlooked by the huge lineup. A couple of other
competitors could have done better but it was hard to figure what judges
wanted since the 20% rules made some people drop in their conditioning
and other keep it the same way as last year. Alejandra Abdala came in
with a very hard and great looking physique as she is an ex-bodybuilder
but was probably penalized for being to muscular. Karina Nascimento
was doing her first Figure show after retiring from Bodybuilding were
she had placed very high at the Arnold before. She also was 6 months
out from being pregnant so I think that counts a lot. Another competitor
who switched from another category was young superstar Britt Thorsch
who will be doing figure since fitness has taken a toll on her young
body. Overall a great show and hopefully we'll see more of these competitors
in the future.
